When Is the Best Time to Visit Seattle? (Season by Season Guide)
Everyone thinks it rains here all the time.
It doesn’t.
But I get why people think that.
Seattle has a reputation, and honestly it’s only half true.
The reality is we have some of the best summers anywhere — and some very gray winters.
Here’s the real breakdown.
Summer (June–September)
This is peak Seattle.
Blue skies, 70s, mountains out, sunsets at 9pm. The city absolutely shines.
If you want postcard weather, this is it.
Downside? It’s busy. Hotels cost more and tours book out faster.
Fall (October–November)
Super underrated.
Fewer crowds, crisp air, fall colors, and still plenty of clear days. It feels cozy instead of hectic.
Great time to visit if you don’t mind the occasional drizzle.
Winter (December–March)
Yeah… this is the gray season.
It’s not usually heavy rain — more like light mist and overcast skies.
But it’s also ski season and the mountains look incredible with snow.
If you’re into winter vibes, it can actually be really beautiful.
Spring (April–May)
Everything turns green again. Waterfalls are raging. Wildflowers start popping.
Weather is mixed but improving fast.
Honestly, it’s one of my favorite times to run tours because the city feels fresh.
If you want guaranteed sunshine, come in summer.
If you want fewer crowds and cheaper prices, spring and fall are amazing.
And no matter when you visit, getting out into the mountains or forests is always worth it.
That’s where Washington really shows off.
