YOUR ITINERARY
Your four-hour engineering itinerary
Follow the structures and waterways that keep Seattle moving. The route below expands the tour’s planned drives and outdoor stops; your guide adapts the order and time at each place to conditions and your group.
- 01 / Pickup
Meet your guide & plan the route
Begin at your confirmed Seattle hotel, cruise terminal, Market or airport pickup point. Tell your guide which aspects of the city’s infrastructure interest you most.
A private four-hour mix of narrated drives, short walks and outdoor stops. Route order changes with pickup, traffic and conditions.
- 02 / Narrated drive
Stadium District & SODO
Explore the area around Seattle’s stadiums and freight corridors. Your guide explains how major venues, transport routes and industrial land share space in a growing city.
An outside view of the district; stadium interiors are not part of this route.
- 03 / Viewpoint stop
Harbor Island & the working port
Pause for views of Harbor Island and the Port of Seattle. Follow the movement of maritime traffic and hear how the working waterfront connects to roads and freight routes.
View the port from public areas; this is not an inside-terminal or restricted-port tour.
- 04 / Drive-through
The SR-99 tunnel & Ballard Bridge
Travel through the SR-99 tunnel and cross the Ballard Bridge as the route allows. Compare the challenges of moving traffic below the city with carrying it over an active waterway.
A narrated drive. Bridge openings and traffic can affect the sequence.
- 05 / Outdoor stop
Ballard Locks
Step out at the locks to see how the canal connects freshwater and saltwater. Watch the working structures and discuss the engineering behind moving boats between different water levels.
Boat movements depend on the day’s traffic; time to walk and observe the site.
- 06 / Photo stop
The Aurora Bridge & Fremont Troll
Stop beneath the Aurora Bridge at the Fremont Troll. See how a major transport structure and a neighborhood landmark occupy the same urban space.
Short outdoor stop with photos and guide commentary.
- 07 / Park stop
Gas Works Park & Lake Union
Visit the former industrial site at Gas Works Park. Look at its remaining structures and the surrounding public space while your guide discusses environmental engineering and the changing use of city land.
Outdoor visit and views across Lake Union.
- 08 / Narrated drive
University of Washington & Montlake
Continue through the University of Washington and Montlake area, connecting the city’s neighborhoods, waterways and transport routes.
The exact streets and sequence depend on current traffic.
- 09 / Crossing & possible viewpoint
SR-520 floating bridge
Cross Lake Washington on SR-520 and learn why floating bridges are part of Seattle’s transport network. A viewpoint stop can be included when conditions allow.
The crossing and stop are planned around traffic, conditions and the four-hour schedule.
- 10 / City drive & drop-off
South Lake Union & modern Seattle
Return through South Lake Union and the Amazon campus area, viewing the Spheres from outside. Wrap up the city’s engineering story before your agreed drop-off.
